About Insurance In Focus
Insurance In Focus is an independent UK publication that explains how insurance works — from the precise wording of a policy to the market forces that shape what consumers and businesses pay, what they are covered for, and how claims and complaints are resolved.
What we do
We publish clear, evidence-led explanations of insurance products, the claims and complaints process, pricing and regulation. Our material is written for two audiences who rarely get served together:
- Policyholders — people buying, renewing, using or claiming on insurance who want to understand what a policy actually means and what to do when something goes wrong.
- Insurance professionals — insurers, brokers, managing general agents, claims professionals, compliance and actuarial teams who need an accessible, accurate view of the market and its regulation.
How we are different
We sit between consumer publications that concentrate on price and deals and trade titles written for specialists. We explain both the product and the system behind it, in plain English, without assuming either that every insurer action is unreasonable or that industry statements should be taken at face value.
We do not rank policies, we do not accept affiliate commission, and we do not let commercial relationships shape editorial conclusions. Where material is sponsored, it is clearly separated from independent editorial coverage.
Our standards
Every substantive page is built on primary sources — FCA publications and data, Financial Ombudsman Service decisions, PRA and Bank of England material, legislation, ABI data and insurer documents. Each carries a named author, a publication date, and a correction mechanism. Read our Editorial Standards, Research Methodology and Corrections pages for detail.
